SAILING PE 2020/21

RULES
The races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
The following rules also apply: a) IMS Rules and b) ORC Rating Systems Rules.
During the Double Handed Series, Racing Rule 52 is further changed to allow the use of autopilots and self-steering equipment.
ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising in certain races.
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
The races are open to all boats with a valid ORC, Club certificate or Sailing PE Personal Handicap.
Eligible boats may enter by signing up for the relevant races by using the online registration form on the Sailing PE website up to 24 hours before the start of a race.
All skippers to be paid up SA Sailing members.

SCHEDULE
The full schedule of club races for the season is available on the Sailing PE website.
The following races series will form the Club Championships, Club Racing Series (7 Races) and Virtual Distance race Series (7 Races), with discards as follows: 4 or more races 1 discard, 8 or more races 2 discards, 12 or more races 3 discards.
Specific dates and times are in the Sailing Instructions.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available online from 2 days before the event takes place.
VENUE
Racing will take place in and around Algoa Bay.
COURSES
Courses will be announced at least 30 minutes prior to racing on VHF Channel 72. and set out as per Club Course card.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of R2,5 million or equivalent. All skippers must have valid skipper’s tickets. Proof of these must be supplied to the Sailing Office.
