Sailing PE Personal Handicaps for 2021/22 Sailing Season

Sailing PE has decided to go with Personal Handicaps for the coming sailing season in order to try and encourage more sailors to participate. I have taken last seasons results and crunched some numbers and come up with the following Personal Handicaps. They will be updated on a  six monthly basis after more results are obtained from the current sailing season.

What you will see is a yachts scratch handicap as per the official rating system.   What has happened is that we have taken a skippers performance and obtained your personal rating from past events. The ideal will to be 100% of a yacht’s handicap, but as you can see they vary from 45% to 90% of the ideal handicap. By using this system we can encourage the weaker yachts to participate by being legible to win some events, thus creating some form of encouragement for them.
