The 2018/19 prize giving for ABYC was held last weekend. We thank all of you who turned out to support the event and all yachts men and women that contributed to making the season one of the best in several years. Special thanks goes out to Sigi Bailes who drove the prize giving event.
The year saw some changes in how sailing races were run, raced and scored which gave all that went o sea new things to think about and test their navigation with virtual marks. This gives the race organiser much more flexibility to run races and courses depending on weather conditions and without having to rely on the moving of marks and start lines. Some of these ideas have evolved for the coming year and I for one am excited by the racing for the 2019/20 season to come.
In terms of the prize giving, 61 sailors and their families attended, and a sense of gees is back within the sailing community.

Further afield, we send out congratulations to the Rhodes University sailing club who came fourth at
the Winter Intervarsity match racing held in Durban last week.
