September 2019
Dear Members,

SailingPE has officially begun its first sailing season. As with last year the GPS virtual courses are proving to work well with the few boats that have so far entered races completing the courses well on GPS. Please remember to click on the following link to register for racing:

We have also had one Wednesday night race sailed in favourable conditions and lots of new faces on boats. One of the tabled ideas for the coming season is to change Wednesday night sailing to ‘a favourable weather’ night sailing. The idea being that if the forecast is not favourable on a Wednesday then a few days’ notice will be given to encourage boats out to sea on a more suitable evening. Any comments or suggestions on this will be greatly received, please feel free to contact myself or Tony with any suggestions you may have.
This last weekend saw the first of our double handed races on Saturday. Ideal conditions for the double handed saw up to 12knts of South East. Bullet, the Fareast 28R and Jelly Baby competed strongly and great to see Martinique, Pikkewyn and Skybird racing the double handed. Spirit of Gardiol also completed the coure and we look forward to the results. Three boats started the medium distance race, but the light wind soon dropped to zero and the race was abandoned.
We have another boat to launch, the Mini Transat owned by Grzegorz Ochabski. There has been a great deal of excitement amoung members and boat owners to see her launch and on the start line in the near future. Congratulations Grzegorz, she’s a stunning vessel and the club looks forward to the extra competition you will bring to sailing in Port Elizabeth.

Kind Regards,

Mark Dawson
