Dear Yachties, Please see below protocols which are to be strictly adhered to prior to, during and following any sailing activity. → Practice good hand hygiene before and after sailing. → Avoid physical contact between participants. → Don’t share drinks or towels. |
→ Sharing of equipment should be avoided and if necessary, should be kept to a minimum. → Keep a distance of 1.5 metres from other people where reasonably practicable. → Signing out and in with detailed crew records for tracing purposes if necessary. → Requests of additional requirements or cessation of activity requested by any Covid Compliance Officer as per the Disaster Management Act, No. 57 of 2002. →The Skipper is responsible for signing out and in. Hygiene → Provision of hand sanitiser, all boats must carry adequate hand sanitizer for skipper and crew. → Clear direction for unwell participants to not attend and return to shore immediately should participants start to display the following symptoms; fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, body aches, redness of eyes, loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea, fatigue or weakness. → No sharing of personal equipment (e.g. ‘ water bottle, clothes and towels). |
→ Wearing of facemasks at all times, discouraging any spitting or nasal secretions. → Limited sharing of any equipment with appropriate cleaning protocols in place where this is required. → Use of communal facilities. Facilities at Nelson Mandela Bay Yacht Club building and PEDSAC will be unavailable until further notice. Physical Distancing → Activities aimed at supporting the principle “Get in, Sail, get out” – crew are to arrive ready to go. On completion of activities, discourage any unnecessary social interaction (e.g. face to face meetings, no group functions) → Physical contact between participants should be avoided at all times. |
→ No spectators → Recreational boating only to comply with the small group setting and broader physical distancing and hygiene requirements. → Protocols on capturing skipper and crew details of attendance as per the sign out/sign in requirements of SailingPE (to support contact tracing if required), → Avoiding physical contact both in sailing and social contexts after mooring. |

In the event of a COVID-19 positive result within the sailing and boating community or membership you may be required to support contact tracing efforts – access to records related to all sailors may be required to health authorities. Protocols will apply related to quarantine/self- isolation for the individual/s and those contact considered at risk. |
